eSIM Compatible Devices

Your iOS device must support eSIM and be carrier unlocked to use eSIM. Whether a device is eSIM-compatible depends on whether the manufacturer includes an eSIM. In some countries and regions, models may be released that do not support eSIM functionality. Alternatively, the carrier you purchased the device from may not have enabled eSIM.

MicroEsim provides an eSIM compatible device list for easy checking. The best way to confirm if your eSIM is compatible is through your device manufacturer, supplier, or major carrier.

Check if Your iPhone is eSIM Compatible

Apple phone models from iPhone XS, XS Max and XR onwards are equipped with eSIM. However, this also depends on your location and mobile operator. Follow the steps below to check if your iOS device supports eSIM technology.

*Note: These methods may not work on all devices and versions.

Method 1: Check Model Number

1) Go to Settings > General > About.

2) Tap Model Number until it changes to an AXXXX combination.

3) Verify that the Model Number of your iPhone or iPad is not from China region.

*Note: eSIM only supports iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular features. The following Apple devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:

• iPhone from mainland China.
• iPhone from Hong Kong and Macao (except iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE 2020, and iPhone XS).

Method 2: Check IMEI Number

1) Go to Settings > General > About.

2) Scroll down to find IMEI.

3) If a 15-digit IMEI number is displayed, your iPhone supports eSIM.

Method 3: Check the Add eSIM Page

1) Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.

2) If “Add eSIM” is available, your iPhone supports eSIM or virtual data SIM card.

Check if Your iPhone is Carrier Unlocked

Your device must also be carrier unlocked to use eSIM. This enables you to use multiple SIM cards or eSIM cards from different operators. Here are two methods to check if your iPhone/iPad is carrier-unlocked.

Method 1: Check Device Settings

1) Go to Settings > General > About.

2) Scroll down to Carrier Lock.

3) If it says No SIM restrictions, your iOS device is unlocked.

Method 2: Use Another SIM Card

1) Remove the origional SIM card from your iphone.

2) Insert another SIM card from a different mobile network operator.

3) If you can successfully make calls or send text messages using another SIM card or see that the carrier name at the top of the phone screen has changed, your phone may be unlocked. Otherwise it means your phone is tied to the original provider and is not eSIM compatible.

Method 3: Contact Your Seller / Service Provider

1) If you purchased your iPhone directly from a manufacturer like Apple, it may be unlocked.

2) If your purchased your device from a telecom provider (e.g. Orange, T-Mobile, or AT&T), it may be restricted to their network. Contact the provider for confirmation. They can inform if your iPhone is network locked and assist with unlocking it if necessary.

Check if Your Android Device is eSIM Compatible

eSIM on Samsung Galaxy:

1) Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager or SIM card manager > Add eSIM or Add Mobile plan.

2) If “Add eSIM or Add Mobile plan” is available, your device supports eSIM or virtual data SIM card.

*Note: Galaxy S devices going back to the S20 series, all Galaxy Z Flips and Z Folds support eSIM. For mid-rangers like the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34, eSIM support is only available in select markets. Samsung's entry-level smartphones are unlikely to support eSIM.

The following Samsung Galaxy devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:

• Galaxy S20 FE 4G/5G
• Galaxy S20/S21 (US versions)
• Galaxy Z Flip 5G (US versions)
• Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Versions from the US and Hong Kong)
• Galaxy Z Fold 2 (Versions from the US and Hong Kong)
• Galaxy S23 FE Models from China or from Hong Kong
• The following models purchased in South Korea: Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ 5G, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ 5G, Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G.

eSIM on Google Pixel:

1) Go to Settings >> Network & Internet > SIMs.

2) If the Connect to Mobile network page has a “Download a new SIM or Download a SIM instead?” option, your device is eSIM capable.

*Note: All Pixel smartphones, including Google’s “a” series devices, are equipped with eSIM support, starting from the Pixel 4 series onwards. For earlier Pixel models, eSIM functionality is restricted to certain regions and carrier networks.

The following Google Pixel devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:

• Google Pixel 3 from Australia, Japan and Taiwan, and Google Pixel 3 purchased through a US or Canadian provider other than Spring and Google Fi.
• Google Pixel 3a from South East Asia, and Google Pixel 3a bought in Japan or with Verizon service.

eSIM on OPPO/Other Android Devices:

1) Go to your dialer app > enter *#06# > press the call button.

2) A pop-up window will appear with your device information.

3) If you see the eSIM unique identification number (EID), your phone supports eSIM.

Check if Your Android Device is Carrier Unlocked
